Merlin star Tom Hopper is hoping his visit to Australia for the Supanova conventions won't involve any questions about his sexual preferences.
The 28-year-old actor said questions can get a little "weird" during Q&A sessions at the pop culture expos and was bemused when a young fan once asked him to choose which Merlin character he would sleep with.
"I got asked would I sleep with Gaius or a dragon by a 9-year-old girl," he said.
"Her voice sounded so young, I couldn't believe it. Advertisement
"But eventually I just said 'If you could find a bed big enough I would choose the dragon'."
Hopper says he hadn't yet adjusted to the attention lavished on him by fans, particularly by females.
"I still get weirded out when people recognise me," he said.
"I forget I'm on a TV show sometimes.
"You get a lot of mums of younger fans who want to touch you - feel your arm or something."
A fan from last year's Q&A at the Adelaide Supanova blogged about the "collective sigh" when he mentioned his girlfriend and how one girl ran onto the stage to get a hug.
"It's really weird, it's amazing that people want to pay money to meet me," he said.
"I know what I'm like and it's just me.
"But you're a character and they feel like they know you."
Hopper said the warm reception he'd received in Australia last year had him encourage three of his co-stars to accompany him on his return trip.
"Last year I went to Brisbane and Adelaide," he said.
"We had a great time, I came back and told the boys about it and organised a boys trip this time.
"The Australian fans are really friendly and personable, the sense of humour is a lot less dry than the English.
"I expect Bradley [James] to be absolutely mobbed."
Hopper is self-deprecating about his Merlin role, joking that he "blends into the background" and with the series now wrapped up, has moved onto the upcoming Black Sails.
Hopper will make the switch from the knight Sir Percival to the ship officer Billy Bones for the Treasure Island prequel.
"Merlin was a big step, it was my first big role in a show," he said.
"Next up is Black Sails, which comes out in January.
"It's certainly a different character - he speaks more - so I'm excited."
