Colin Morgan | 'Quirke' - BFI screening incl. Q&A in June and Opening titles graphic samples

It's not clear whether Colin will (or would) attend. There are no The Tempest performances that week but then they'll show the first film while Colin's in the third. But who knows, maybe he'll be there nontheless.

‘Quirke‘ is a new series for BBC One, based on the books by Benjamin Black (pseudonym of award-winning Irish writer John Banville) and adapted by screenwriters Andrew Davies and Conor McPherson.
Starring Gabriel Byrne as Quirke, the 3 part mini series centers around chief pathologist for the city morgue in 1950s Dublin.
Each episode sees him investigate the deaths of those who end up on his mortuary slab. But as Quirke turns accidental detective he discovers his investigations are often more closely linked to his own life, forcing him to confront the sins of his past as he peels back the layers of his own family history.
In our concept (seen here), we use stained linen as our textural canvas for a series of intriguing and underlying images which we discover during the sequence. A single red thread animates through the loose weave with warp and weft, as we pull focus and shine light from behind.
The series is a co-production between the BBC and Dublin-based Element Pictures and Tyrone Productions. John McColgan, Founding Director of Tyrone Productions says:
As friend and colleague of Gabriel Byrne over the years I am thrilled to see him bringing the brilliant, mercurial character of Quirke as created by John Banville to screens worldwide. BBC Drama has brought an incredible pool of writing talent to this project and I’m looking forward to seeing their scripts going into production.
We equally look forward to seeing it aired later this year.
