I just got a call from Canadian Tire's bank security department. Someone just called them and tried to activate my Canadian Tire Mastercard. Which is interesting, since I've never received a Canadian Tire Mastercard. Canadian tire told me that they'd give me a gas card that would give me a discount buying gas from them, and didn't bother to tell me it was a credit card they wanted me to use. So I get a letter from them mentioning that I should have my card by now, and how am I enjoying it. I call in, tell them I don't have a card, and not to bother sending one, since I don't want another credit card. The account was closed. This week I get another piece of mail asking if I want to upgrade my card. I call them again, confirm that the account is closed, and they assure me that it's just the paperwork that was already in the mail when I cancelled it. Then this morning I find out that someone has the card they were supposed to send me in the mail, and that they tried to activate it.
I'm 99% positive that it was the people downstairs trying to use it, since who else has an excuse to be going through my mailbox.
I have one more really good reason to want them gone. Luckily they're supposed to be soon departed.
