 “Hyung, let’s run away,” Sehun says one midsummer’s midnight, after they’ve made love for the first time. Seoul is just starting to fall asleep but Sehun is very wide awake, thoughts running amok in his little blonde head.

“How do you suppose we do that, Sehun-ah?” Junmyeon asks, breathy uncertainty seeping in between the nooks and crannies of their bare bodies.

And Sehun doesn’t answer because, well, he’s still figuring it out. But Sehun has dreams, dreams of going out into the world with Junmyeon by his side, because now it’s just the two of them against the world. Sehun can’t stand the stolen kisses and the shy hands that form their tabooed relationship. He wants to hold Junmyeon’s hand proudly, like how he would hold a prize. Because at the end of the day, it’s Junmyeon’s blindingly bright smiles Sehun goes back to (not the permanent scowl of his dance trainer), it’s Junmyeon’s warm caress that Sehun falls asleep in (not the cold wooden floor of the practice room). Without Junmyeon, Sehun would most probably still be that lost teenager years ago, not the dancer thousands of fans see on stage.

But eventhough he wants to face everything with Junmyeon, he knows deep, deep down he can’t. He can’t reveal their relationship just yet, or he would be faced with hows and whys and how dare you Oh Sehun, how dare you single-handedly destroy the career I spent years to build. And so Sehun closes his eyes, hoping at least in his dreams, they can run away.

“Hyung?”

“Hmm?”

“Good night.”

There’s a painful pause of silent before Junmyeon mumbles, “Good night, Sehun-ah,” and Sehun can’t help but feel that Junmyeon was just thinking about the same exact thing; that Junmyeon was thinking about the hows and whys and how dare yous too.

Because when you've sold your soul to the devil, you can’t take it back. You can’t run away from what’s chaining you down.
