This is the best community I've seen in ages.

Brit here. Okay, so, I'm going to Australia in April for the first time. I'm so excited! I'll initially be staying with two Aussie friends in Brisbane (a place called Indooroopilly, I think they said?) for a month or so, before going over to my newly emigrated boss' house on the other side of town for a week. I will definitely be coming back to Brisbane at some point.

I'm a bit stuck as to what to do after that. There's so much I want to see and only a few months in which to do it. I was planning on going over to Perth, but I have a couple of questions that I can't seem to find answers to.

1) Being right over on the opposite side of the country and very isolated, is Perth different in any way to the rest of the nation? The climate, the people, life in general. Etc etc.
2) Are there train links available from Brisbane to Perth? Or is it better to fly?

Chuck in your personal opinions on Brisbane and Perth too, if you have any. I'd be very interested to hear them!

Thanks a lot.
