A family member tried without any luck to alert nursing staff to the unpleasantly tight bandaging around her legs. As it was a pressure bandage and meant to be very tight it was ignored despite her protesting that it was doing harm. The bandages cut into the tops and bottoms of her legs and required 2 operations (plastic surgery) to heal the deep wide cuts.

General lack of tact, privacy, security, at public hospitals by one or two arrogant doctors and uncaring nursing staff after a bike accident which left a brother in law with multiple fractures and horrific pins and plastering - quite callous indifference due to the cause of the accident ie being on a motorbike (and being blatantly told that) At times given only the very basics sometimes in full view of visitors and other patients and with a mouth full of attitude.

Condescending attitude to Italian family members unable to speak English, lack of translaters, ill mannered catering staff. At this hospital my youngest son aged about 6 at the time went in for day surgery and was treated so well it was hard to believe it was the same place.

I have other examples but this is enough i think. We always have to bear in mind too that at times we are not always aware of procedures or the needs of medical professionals and its easy to lay blame when we are not well, injured, in pain and nervous.

Yeah, that sort of thing really sucks. But I do have to think that it happens everywhere.

It does, and its people not hospitals or policy or funding that do it. You just get some like this - there are ignorant and arrogant people everywhere.

We do ok, woe betide us if we ever end up with a system like the US has.
