Okay, so the Legends marquee is tomorrow. Being true to myself, I'll be playing Fan4 - they didn't reprint Crime Lords, there's no Beta Ray Bill, and Ronan's just not really an option as a legend (though he should be, dammit!)
My regulars will likely be playing beatdown variants - one Jean Grey, one Fan4, two Punisher fartifacts decks. The Toronto boys played a bunch of stall decks (Lifemage posted a summary thread at VSRealms), so there's a good chance we'll be seeing stall at our tourney too.
The beatdowns I know I can handle - size matters and all that jazz, and thanks to Family of Four, size I can do. The stall decks are a different issue.
Here's decklist right now:
4x Human Torch: Matchstick (2)
2x Mr Fantastic: Stringbean (2)
4x Invisible Woman: First Lady…(3)
2x Thing: Idol O' Millions (3)
4x Mr Fantastic: Critical Thinker (4)
1x Luke Cage: Paid In Full (4)
1x Lyja: Mrs Johnny Storm (4)
4x Thing: Heavy Hitter (5)
1x Invisible Woman: Sight Unseen (5)
2x Human Torch: Flame On (6)
1x Thing: TELBET (7)
1x Hulk: The Fantastic Hulk (7)
2x Level 12 Intelligence
3x BPRD Signal Device
2x Unstable Molecular Suit
4x It's Clobbering Time
4x Signal Flare
4x Mobilize
2x Only Human
4x Family of Four
4x Force Field Projection
4x The Uni-Power
What I'd _like_ to do is up the count of equipment hate to four by adding either two more Level 12's, or two Justice Is Served (+2 ATK, Equip hate on attack) and a couple of Evil Lairs to keep the stall decks below 25 END so they can't Shazam me.
Trouble is, there's not a lot of breathing room already.
Character wise:
Torch is our main 2-drop, but Reed's there as an alternative since we may not have a visible defender until turn 4 otherwise.
Sue's the main 3-drop for reinforcing purposes, as well as enabling Force Field Projection. Thing's our alternative wall.
Reed's the 4-drop of choice, with card draw and a great defence. Luke's a beefy alternative, and Lyja's burn tech against multi team decks, like Lifemage's three-team deck.
Thing's the 5-drop, one Sue as an alternative should we have lost the 3-drop to hidden hate
The 6-drop's burn central.
7-drop has Thing for weenies, and Hulk for bulk.
I was originally running Namorita as the alternate two, but the lack of a solid visible defender until turn four could be problematic, so having Reed gives us a potential 2/4 alternative.
The other ponderance I'm having is the 7-drop Hulk. I'm wondering if I should stick with his immense beefiness (let's face it, he gets enormous) or whether I should toss in a 7-drop Susie, to ensure that I can still run my Force Field Projections. There's a good chance I'll have lost the 3-drop by this point, and the 5-drop's not the preferred option.
Non characters:
4x Signal Flare, 4x Mobilize - obvious tutor suite.
4x Clobbering Time, 4x Family of Four - obvious combat suite.
4x Force Field Projection - Susie's weapon of choice.
4x The Uni-Power - Concealed hate, flight and range, and a minor pump
2x Lvl 12 Intelligence - Equipment hate
2x Only Human - Character text hate
2x Unstable Molecular Suit - Really, there should be no real way to stun me without a pump
3x BPRD Signal Device - Anti-targetting, minor defense pump
I'd LIKE to add in:
2x Justice Is Served! - minor atk pump, equipment hate
2x Evil Lair - a little extra burn is a good thing, especially since it'll let 3-Sue do something.
The trouble is, what to take out to make room for them. Bah! (pulls out hair)
