I don't think there's anything better in this world than Adventures with Nancy. Today, I was really tired when I got up for Mass, so I thought "hey, no problem, I'll go to mass tonight instead" and looked for the churches in the diocese that do that sort of thing and came across St. Cecilia, the only one closer than St Francis de Sales in Newark. I didn't want to go by myself though, so I called my mom to see if she would come up and go with me. So we meet at this church (it ends up being in New Rome for anyone who knows the Columbus area decently well) and look for Mass and can't find it. We see this girl going in and she says it's the first time she's been here too, so we kind of walk with her into the basement of a building. When we open the door, everyone's playing Bingo! Talk about your Catholic stereotype! Not only that, they're smoking in the building too! So my mom in her little sweater with her little quilted bag and weird shoes walks up to this, ahem, "down home" woman who confirms that there is no Mass at 700! Crap. To make things even better, me and Nance got lost (well, not lost, we knew where we were, but we didn't know how to get where we wanted to be from where we were) and ended up at Steak and Shake for dinner because we lost so much time. I told Nance that someday we would look back on this night and laugh, and she started laughing. There is little better than getting lost with my mom.
