CKY vs. Slayer?

Mar 01, 2007 18:44

Time for a music post kiddies. I just really feel the need to address this so here's the post from the ckyalliance.com that started it all and Deron Miller's response.

Question:
deron, i realize you dont like slayer, so i'd love to hear your opinion on the baffling fact of how tom araya can be a devout christian and still write/sing that music

Answer:
slayer is bullshit. somehow they became the "scariest & fastest" metal band that everyone is aware of. little does anyone know that slayer is far from being the fastest, heaviest, brutalist, and most talented extreme band. back in the day they were extreme, but now theyre just a parody of themselves. everyone always yells "SLAYER!!!" at concerts because they think thats the first band you need to know if you're trying to be an extreme metalhead, as if slayer is underground and they know something no one else does. everyone knows slayer and has heard them. truth is, i always thought slayer sucked. i somehow ended up owning all of their albums, (i guess buying them to see what all the fuss was about)and the only songs i like from them arent even them. theyre Malevolent Creation's covers of raining blood and piece by piece. i will never know why theyre credited for pushing the metal envelope. i didnt know araya went christian. a lot of those metal guys get old and forget what their jobs are and how to do them. they get confused because they have all the money and they lost the passion years ago. so they go to god, or whatever is out of character for them. the music becomes unimportant. slayer always followed trends (like doing punk cover albums UGH!!!!, and nu-metal like diabolica in musica or whatever its called). if you think slayer is extreme, put them up against bands like Malevolent Creation or Gorguts and you'll discover that both of those bands kick Slayer's ass. i know im going to get a bunch of hate responses from this, but jesus christ do i hate slayer. this is just my opinion. i dont know any of the slayer guys personally...they may be really cool, but winning grammies is definitely not cool if youre supposed to be a threatening thrash band.

So now this got posted to a news site and now all the Slayer fans are up in arms about it. I'm pretty fucking sure that any type of person that would bitch when someone speaks out against someone who disses their bands or whatever are the first people in line to complain when someone gets mad at them when they diss their band.

What Slayer stands for and now that they have a Christian frontman is hypocritical. He can't brush it off by saying he's angry with god on a certain day because that's just bullshit and you can't call yourself Christian if you write a song with lyrics like Religion is rape. And if you argue that he wrote that before he found God then he's still a fucking sellout hypocrite because then he doesn't believe in his music anymore and only turned Christian because it was the thing to do.

Nobody should be slamming Deron for his opinions and you're not gonna change his mind. Deron is just one part of the 90% of people who hate Slayer. So to those haters just fuck off and listen to your own shit and leave Deron alone.
