My first book of the year was Jordan Krall's
A Fistful of Feet. It's a Western in the
Bizarro style, being somewhere off the scale that has Eraserhead as its usual endpoint (Indeed Eraserhead Press is one of the imprints that carry these books). I'd read and enjoyed much of
Steve Aylett before but Krall pushes the genre a whole lot further. If you are at all disgusted by strange appetites, cthulhoid deviance, cows with tentacles for udders and violence, if you couldn't watch the afterbirth scene in Misfits, then this is not for you. Otherwise it's not a bad read. It's certainly inventive although I found his earlier Squid Pulp Blues to have better constructed stories.
