Aoi was admiring the angel sleeping next to him. He always does that before he dozed of to sleep himself. Since the first day Kai was admitted to the hospital, Aoi has requested a bigger bed for both of them to sleep. He spends his nights there sleeping next to Kai and he would go back in the morning or in the afternoon to freshen up and get something to eat before returning back to the hospital to be with Kai.
Kai was still awake but his eyes were closed. He was enjoying every moment he share with Aoi next to him. Being in Aoi’s arms, there is no other safer place compared to this. Aoi’s scent, Aoi’s warmth, and Aoi’s steady heartbeat makes him feel alive.

“Aoi?”
“Yes darling? What’s wrong baby?” Aoi shifted himself up to have a better look at Kai.
“I want to go to the beach,” Kai voiced out his desires. Aoi looked at him confused.
“Okay, we will go when you are…,”
“Tomorrow. I want to go to the beach tomorrow,” Kai stopped Aoi from finishing his sentence. Aoi stared at Kai even more confused.
“But honey, you are still not..,” Kai looked disappointed. “Alright baby, we’ll go to the beach tomorrow ne?” Aoi smiled and kissed the younger on the forehead. “Now, rest well. You will need your energy for tomorrow,”

After much discussing and persuading between Aoi and Kai’s doctor, she reluctantly agreed but made Aoi promised to bring Kai back before dark and when ever Kai has become weary and tired. It took them almost one hour to reach the beach and Kai has slept through out the whole journey. As soon as they reach the beach, Kai’s eyes sparkle with joy and happiness. Aoi took out Kai’s wheelchair and carried Kai to sit on it. Aoi stood behind Kai placing his hands on top of Kai’s shoulders. Both pairs of eyes were looking ahead towards the sea, enjoying the refreshing breeze of air.
“Oh. I saw a few pretty seashells there,” Aoi exclaimed. “I’ll go and pick it up for you,” Aoi kissed Kai on the cheeks and walked towards the spot where he saw the shells. “Wow baby, the colors are pretty and they are so shinny,” he was squatting down and started to picked up the shells. “I bet you would love these. Why don’t we make them into something? Like a necklace or uh…. I don’t know. We should ask Ruki. He’s the design..,” Aoi paused as he felt someone hugged him from behind. With a quick move, he turned his head and fell backwards causing the other person to collapse on top of him. Still in shock, Aoi didn’t move a single muscle. He couldn’t believe what has just happened. Kai was laughing as he steady himself on top of Aoi and kisses Aoi on the cheek before he got up. He held his hand up for Aoi to hold on and pulled himself up.
“K…K..Kai.. How.. did you? When..? Wha..?” Kai was still laughing as he embraced the other man who was still stuttering.
“Surprised?” Kai asked smiling wickedly. Aoi stared at him in disbelief. “I started walking 2 weeks back and since then, I’ve been trying hard to perfect it. I didn’t want to tell you and wanted to surprise you,” Kai explained.
“Well, you sure did surprise me. I’m still in shock,” Aoi hugged Kai. “Oh my god! You can walk now! Oh my.. my heart. It’s beating so fast that I think it might burst. I need to sit,” Kai was laughing so hard to see Aoi’s reaction over his sudden news. “That was evil of you Kai-chan!” Aoi scolded. “What if I have a heart attack?” Aoi pouted and it made Kai laughed even harder.
“Well, you didn’t have a heart attack, did you? Aww.. Baby, don’t be angry at me,” Kai pulled Aoi closer to him and kisses Aoi all over his face. Aoi chuckled at Kai’s adorable gesture.
“Alright alright. Oh, it’s late. Shall we go back honey? Your doctor will kill me if I bring you back to the hospital later than what I promised her,” Kai nodded with a smile. “Ah, I guess we won’t need this anymore ne?” Aoi folded the wheelchair and carried it with him. Kai was walking beside him with his arms around Aoi’s waist.
“Ne baby, can we drop by our apartment for awhile? I need to take a few games to give back to Uruha. He was asking me about it two days ago,” Kai was helping Aoi with the wheelchair.
“Uh? Can’t he wait?”
“I promised him I would give him back and I’m 3 weeks late,” Kai pouted. “It won’t be long,”
“Okay, anything for you dear,”

As soon as they reached their apartment, Kai got out from the car and went straight to their apartment without waiting for Aoi. Through out the whole journey back, Kai was restless and jittery. It made Aoi suspicious to why Kai was being all nervous. After parking the car and locked it, he walked towards their apartment. When he reached their front door, he saw Kai standing in the middle of their living room. The whole place was lighted up with candles placed all over, even on the floor. The floor was covered by petals of red roses, making it look like a sea of red petals. Kai turned to face Aoi. This time, it was his turn to be confused and surprised. Aoi closed the door behind him and took of his shoes. He walked towards Kai smiling.
“What’s going on Aoi?”
“Looking for this?” Aoi wave the blue paper bag in front of him. Kai’s eyes widen in surprised.
“Where did you get that?”
“Doesn’t matter now,” As he said that, he knelt down on one knee and took out the content of the blue paper bag. He took Kai’s hand and looked up to the younger man standing in front of him. “The strands in your eyes that color them wonderful stop me and steal my breath. Emeralds from mountains thrust toward the sky never revealing their depth. Tell me that we belong together and dress it up with the trappings of love. I'll be captivated. I'll hang from your lips instead of the gallows of heartache that hang from above,” Kai’s heart was beating faster and faster. He can’t believe what was happening in front of him. It was like a fairy tale ending to all the dramas that happened before. “Baby, I will be your crying shoulder. I will be better when I’m older and I will be the greatest fan of your life. I want to spend the rest of my life with you,” this is it. This is really happening. Kai held his breath. “Will you marry me, Uke Yutaka?” By now Aoi was holding the small red velvet box in front of Kai. Kai knelt down in front of Aoi and smiled. He was already crying as he hugged Aoi tightly and whispered a soft yes as his answer. They stayed in each other’s arms for awhile before Aoi moved them apart and placed the ring on Kai’s finger. Kai stared at the ring. It has their initials embedded with small cut diamonds and the date they got together engraved to it on the inside.
“Darling, this is not the..,” before Kai could finish his sentence, Aoi took the other ring from his pocket and placed it in Kai’s palm.
“I can’t propose to you with the ring that you bought for me ne?” A small chuckle left Aoi’s lips. “Now, are you going to place that ring on my finger or I have to do it myself?” Aoi teased. Kai playfully smack Aoi on the arm and placed the ring on Aoi’s finger.
“Aoi, how did you know about it?” Kai asked as they cuddle on the sofa.
“I accidentally found it while I was taking clothes from the closet. The day after your accident,”
“Um.. what about today? How did you know that I wanted to come back here and take it?” Kai was eyeing him suspiciously.
“Uh, the guys told me,” Aoi gave Kai a smirk. “They said after the beach, you wanted to come here to get something important and I knew straight away what it was,”
“Those guys are unbelievable! They can’t be trusted with secrets at all!” Kai huffed and pouted. He snuggled closer to Aoi and admiring the ring that he was wearing. “So I guess they helped you to set up with all of these too?” Aoi nodded and grin. Kai pouted even more.
“Aww baby, don’t be angry. I did this for you sweetheart. Also in a way to say sorry about not trusting you more and for causing all of these shit to happened,” Aoi looked away. “If it wasn’t for me, you wouldn’t have gone through hell for the past few months,” tears made their way down Aoi’s cheeks. “Ne baby, can I ask you something?” Aoi paused.
“Yeah. What is it honey?”
“What were you doing when you came home late and stuffs?”
“Uh, that. Well, I met with some jewelry designers to design your ring,” Kai smiled. “And also to arrange our marriage reception, honeymoon and other stuffs. Sorry honey for lying to you. I wanted it to be a surprise,” Aoi couldn’t believe what he was hearing. All those time, Kai was actually doing all of these? Aoi felt dumbstruck and stupid for even thinking that Kai was cheating on him. How could he ever think about Kai in that way? Without even realizing it, Aoi was crying.
“What’s wrong dear? Why are you crying?” Kai embraced the sobbing guitarist.
“I feel stupid. I thought you were cheating on me. I’m so sorry Kai. I don’t deserve you. You are too good to me. I cause you too much pai…” Kai kissed Aoi on the lips preventing him from finishing his sentence.
“Shh.. It’s the past. We shall leave them in the past. Now, we concentrate on our present and look forward towards our future together,” Kai shushed Aoi by placing chaste kisses on Aoi’s soft lips. “You are all that I want, and you are all that I need. No one else, only you Aoi,” Aoi tighten his grip around Kai.
