PC HELP NEEDED ASAP!!!!!

May 30, 2010 04:02

I just got hit by the virus semi, I think. I went to put Avast! on my computer, wanting to upgrade from AVG. Well, in order to do that, I had to uninstall AVG, restart the computer, then install avast! (piece of cake, right? Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, WRONG!!!) So I'm installing the setup file for avast, all of a sudden, I get 50 warnings saying that certain VERY NEEDED files are corrupt or infected. I also get about 4 windows of Internet Explorer open up to porno.com and similar sites. Now what disturbs me about this "Super Virus" -as I'm calling it- is that it managed to actually open Internet Explorer considering it isn't even on my computer any longer, I took it off 2 years ago when I got the computer in favor of Mozilla FireFox. Anyways, I digress, I finally manage to get all of the windows of IE closed, only to have it tell me that the setup file for avast is corrupt. I do a hard shutdown of the pc and bring it back up in safe mode and try again. This actually lets me install avast, and tells me I need to reboot my system to make it active, so I'm thinking I'll reboot it in safe mode to run the first check and remove everything as well as run Spybot Search and Destroy, right? Wrong yet again. I reboot the computer, hit f10 to bring up the boot menu only to find that it's password protected. Now if I ever password something, I remember the password, so I know as soon as I see the screen that someone else did it. I try 3 of their "normal" passwords, and all 3 were wrong. Now what really gets my goat about this is after the third wrong entry, guess what happens? Anyone? The ENTIRE SYSTEM DISABLES!!!!! Can't bring it up in normal mode, can't do a damn thing. So now I have to wait until Tuesday and spend all day on the phone with Gateway trying to get the problem fixed...
