So I noticed this community is dead so I figured I'd make a post that might spark some attention.
Movies. Specifically movie recommendations. Sure, we've all heard about Latter Days, Beautiful Thing, Trick, etc. I actually have two in mind that I would recommend to the group that haven't really been discussed. Those being :
Third Man Out and Shock to the System, and in that order. They're based off a novel series about a gay private detective. I think what I like most about them is that it is not all about the gay. It's part of it, yes, and sure there are nice butt shots and such, but the point of the movie isn't that he's gay. Its that he's a detective, who happens to be gay.
Overall, not the best film of the year, but by far it is enjoyable and a pleasant change from all the "I'm here, I'm queer and I'm sad / suicidal / lonely / horny" movies out there. Anyone else have some recommendations that might've missed the main shelf?
PS, the next in the series is debuting at the Philly awards this year I think. Looking forward to getting that on my Netflix queue.
