Not like I have many watchers anymore....

Leave a name of a series or fandom in a comment and I'll tell you my three favorite characters and my three least favorite characters, and I might provide reasons why. If I don't know the fandom, I'll look up wikipedia or some other side and look at the character profiles and pick my favorite three based on ( Read more... )

Oh man, this made me filled with many happy memories when I saw it. I'm happy that your site is still up for the time being so I can get the names right and easily. I still have all the emails too, so lets see how this goes... I'm going to start with the least favourites, since I really don't think I have many excluding those which were not really developed.

-/+ "Mana" Now, this will be slightly odd because I'll have him in my favourite section as well. Mana was an amazing character in my opinion; and considering Alex's age at the time, I thought he was roll played excellently. His muteness ended up being a pretty interesting attribute, and really helped define his character. The entire back story with the demon was great, and the intrigue with his father did keep me wondering throughout the RP. Now, I realize that the lack of speech made things difficult in an RP situation; but I felt the moment he gained the ability to talk, he just lost so much character. If the RP continued, perhaps it would have recovered, but it almost left Mana as half a boy. Also I suppose at the time he was really a horrible monster grasshopper, but you get the idea. I really liked the whole sealed beast thing too, the moment where he first transformed was really well written from my perspective as a player, I didn't get quite all the information; but it was enough to make me want to meta-game information about it, heheh.

- Domone/Hiko: Okay, this is going to be short, and I am going to have to count these as two as well, because I just can't think of any established character who I honestly didn't like in or out of character. I mean, sure there were weaker characters played, but I don't know how they were outside of the moments where we interacted. Anyways, as far as Domone and Hiko go, I think I didn't like them in the sense that I was always on edge for Hirundo and Mana's sake. I'm not sure if this is a true negative, but I was always waiting and watching for any moment where they would start their eye snatching plan. It was actually a cool feeling playing Hirundo as oblivious to all of it as well. But the fact remains, that was a pretty dastardly thing to plan, especially for a bunch of young genins.

+ Mushin-sensei: I'm sure you saw this coming. Anyways, two of my favourite characters in Naruto are Shino, and Anko; and thematically, Hikari seemed like a combination of the two. Her personality definitely filled the void of "perky" female. Not that she didn't have her dark moments a few times; which only helped serve to make her a successful character in my opinion. My first favourite scene involving her has to be when our team was underground, and she first showed her glowing attributes, and her burrowing attributes in full. It was a very surreal scene, and it felt very interactive. Secondly was just the training scenes in general. From her casual attitude at times, to the whole random hawk in a bag thing. It was just a great few moments. And lastly, when her antenna was cut off, her scream, and subsequent break in established character was beautiful, especially as she broke down, it was amazing.

+ Team Lightning: I wrestled with myself over whether to make Hirundo one of my top three or not. I'm generally a modest person, and I think a good part of Hirundo's appeal was that he was just so fun to play. He has such wonderful subtle quirks which may or may not have worked against his character at times due to their subtlety, but they were fun to use none the less. But as I thought about it, I remembered how cool team lightning's dynamic was.

Yukiko was an excellent and complicated character with probably the coolest and in all honesty grounded established back story as far as family goes. It felt very "Naruto" and yet original at the same time, however cliche that sounds. Shousuke had so much intruigue and mystery involving his scrolls and bloodline traits which he rarely used, which was a shame. He also played a "straight man" while still holding onto unique traits very well. The scene with his mental power dome, Yukiko's snow, and Hirundo's attempt at leadership was just fantastic and a blast to play through.

I don't know how the other teams went in all honesty, but from what I saw, Team Lightning seemed most like a successful team in quite a few ways, they would have made Chunin first for sure.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it and re-living the past. It has definately inspired me on various levels. Anyways, take care; and I hope you're feeling better with all that was happening to you. Talk to you again.

-Hirundo (Geoff)
