Well, in the spirit of the season, it's been a week since my last rant. How these things are related, I know not, but the words seemed to fit.
As some of you may have known, last Sunday was my birthday, and I turned 20. I feel really old now. 19 seems much younger. And at some point in this decade I'm going to have to get my life together and figure out what I want to do or something. Anyway, enough angst. I had a party that saturday, along with one of my friends who had a birthday a few days later. Fun was had by all (or at least most), and I wore what was affectionately called a "killer dress", even though I rarely even wear skirts.
The ipod I ordered was a combined birthday/christmas gift, and I loves it sooo much. And it's so freaking small. Like seriously, I opened the box and was shocked.
Anyway, I think I managed to waste most of the rest of the week, until Friday. Requiring only 6 phone calls, I managed to get a date and time for my first shift at Target. I have never worked in retail before, went in, was put on a register, then packed, then realised I had worked for 3.5 hours with no break, then I left. Apart from a few minor mistakes, all is well. I have been asked to come in again on Monday, so I obviously didn't do too much wrong. And geez, the registers could be improved a lot. And people spoil their kids way more than I can remember being spoiled. And people will demand a discount just because they walked past a sign at some point. And people are rude. Some just annoy me. I look forward to a satisfying (part time and casual) career in retail.
I have decided that holidays are awesome. Mostly just because I don't have to get out of bed before 9 most of the time, and I can do whatever I want. I still go out a lot, as more than 24 hours at home makes me insane.
Unfortunately, I haven't even started my christmas shopping. (Yay, I work in a shopping centre, so it shouldn't really be an issue). Any ideas of what to purchase an older nerd brother or a younger nerd brother? Really, everyone should set up a wish list. It would make the process so much less painful.
Hope everyone is enjoying holidays/being at home/working/whatever you're doing. Try not to let the season get you down too much!
