Ok, so....
I'm house shopping. You know the drill, walking through the stores, looking in the windows. I see something I like and I go in and ask about it.

No, seriously. I've looked at around 5 houses, every intention of putting an offer down that instant if I like what I see. Turns out, every damn one of them already has a contract on it. Kind of getting to the pissing-me-off stage. Anyway, I looked at a house the week before last. Its been on the listings for 3 WHOLE DAYS. I'm the second person to see it. The people ahead of me made a verbal offer. The seller's realtor tells my realtor that they're taking the first offer in writing. So, I make my written offer right then and there on the hood of my realtor's car, and he goes to fax it to the people. He calls me back. The seller took the mother-farking verbal offer. The turds.

Anyway, its all dependent on the inspection, WDO, etc. I finally get some news yesterday. There is a lien on the damn house. Turns out the street was upgraded to city sewage, but the seller/owner of that house hadn't connected to the city yet. So somehow he has a lien on the house until that is done. The first people aren't too thrilled about that part, and it may very well fall through. Which means I'm up to bat. So, I get dibs on the place, but I also get to deal with the sewer hookup situation.

So, anyone have any plumbing buddies, contractor friends, etc. who could offer some heads up on what that costs? I've been told by friends at work that just getting a permit for that is a thousand bucks. Anyone know if that's true or not? How about that great "friend-of-a-friend" network?
