Doctor Who Episode 6x04: The Doctor's Wife

First off, there must be something wrong with my hearing because at the end of this episode, I could have sworn Amy said something like: “He always f***s off to the other end of the universe!”, which doesn’t exactly sound like something the BBC would transmit before 9pm.

Anyhow, spoilers behind the cut:

This episode was pretty weird, with the surreal landscapes and weird costumes - it looked like it could have been out of “Farscape”. The whole idea of having the TARDIS having a soul and “becoming” a living person was a novel idea - and I loved some of the dialogue between them, particularly when Rory asked her name and she responded “sexy”.

I was intrigued also by the maze of corridors through the TARDIS, since I rather stupidly had always assumed that it involved only that one room that they are always seen in - but I guess they WOULD have bedrooms there. Rory asked a good question at the end about whether the Doctor had a room - kind of like Fox Mulder on the X-Files, really. Maybe the Doctor has a room that’s filled up with old porn magazines too! That whole scene with Amy and Rory getting lost in the corridors, plus 2,000 year old Rory, was creepy - as was the standard “OMG They killed Rory” moment.

Another thing that bothered me was that just before the Ood in the TARDIS appeared, and Rory saved Amy, I thought I saw someone lying on the ground who could have been Rory; now, he could have got up, or it might not have been him, but I am getting tempted to spout some paranoid “IT’S NOT THE REAL RORY!” theory - hopefully this will prove very wrong.

I really liked the way that the TARDIS’ personality was shown - kind of like a mixture of Matt Smith, crossed with Drusilla from Buffy/Angel, and Queenie from Blackadder really.
