Osama Bin Laden Executed

May 02, 2011 08:48

I woke up to this morning to the news that Osama Bin Laden is dead, and while (as a Christian), I find it hard to start rejoicing in the death of another human being, I believe this represents a significant victory in the fight against terrorism.

I had never before heard of Bin Laden before the 9/11 bombings, which was the moment when I became aware of how great the threat that these people posed was. I remember at the time, I was on a mailing list that mordororbust ran, and it started overflowing with e-mails about how the US would react, and there were a few extreme reactions, which included advocating locking Bin Laden up for days, insisting that a simple execution was not good enough, and that he should be fed only bread and water, and whipped daily, which doesn’t sound like something the US would sanction (despite all the stories I have read about the notorious camp X-ray), and everytime I tried to tell these people my views, they just rebuffed them angrily and acted like I had no idea; though I do remember making the point that all these people were going to Hell anyway.

President Obama has stayed true to his promise that he would stop Bin Laden.
