Day 23 - Most annoying character
This is going to have to be Riley Finn (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
I actually joined anti_riley because of my hate for him.
Riley first appeared in Episode 4X01: The Freshman, getting knocked on the head by some textbooks that Buffy and Willow pushed off a shelf. It was fairly obvious that he would be Buffy's "rebound guy" after Angel dumped her so he could go off and get his own spinoff series.
Riley seems like a stereotypical "jock" - a very athletic character, who actually picks on others (in the case of Riley, he frequently picked on Spike, which seemed somewhat cowardly given that Spike had a chip in his head that stopped him from attacking humans.
The only scene in which I've ever rooted for Riley was in Episode 4X07: The Initiative, when he punched Parker (who had slept with Buffy and then dumped her) in the face; this was followed by the big revelation that he was part of the Initiative, a secret "army" based under Sunnydale, who captured "hostiles" and inprisoned them, and that was about as exciting as he got. The Buffy/Riley ship was a very unexciting one, and not a patch on "Spuffy" - it wasn't even as thrilling as Buffy/Angel.
I happened to quite enjoy one particular scene in Episode 4X20: The Yoko Factor, when Angel attacked Riley, who the writers were making look like "Mr Perfect". In the fifth season, he became more and more annoying, and developed a weird fetish for getting his blood drunk by vampires. Eventually, in Episode 5X10: Into the Woods, he returned to the army to go on a mission, leaving Buffy very abruptly; I heaved a sigh of relief - Riley had become somewhat redundant after the Initiative got closed down, and seemed to only stay around because he was sleeping with Buffy.
Unfortunately, they bought him back for one show, Episode 6X15: As You Were, with an annoying wife called Sam. Infuriatingly, this didn't stop him acting like his girlfriend was cheating on him when he caught Buffy in bed with Spike, and the episode was otherwise full of characters like Xander fawning over him. He then left, never to return again - good riddance to Riley!
