I wasn't entirely sure about what to put about this one, but I think what finally swayed me was the use of Jace Everett's "Bad Things", which neatly sums up the general feeling of the actual show.
The images shown in the main titles have absolutely nothing to do with vampires, and do not feature any characters from the main cast, but instead show various images of life in Louisiana, where the show is set opening with images of swamps and rattlesnakes, and also giving a feel for the type of people that you would expect to find, including gospel choirs and some moments that are actually incredibly creepy; the guy on the rocking chair half way through definitely spooks me out because of the weird grin on his face, and for some reason the kid who passes through the next shot also seems kind of scary. A few of the clips actually look quite seedy, too - like the guy with the baseball cap turned round, who I swear looks like he's urinating against a wall!
I personally like the way that the imagery shown does not relate to the show at all, but merely sets the scene; and also, the main theme is one that stays in my head long after the credits have finished rolling.
