Florida: Part 7

Day 14

We spent the day at EPCOT again; the first thing we did was go to get Fastpasses for Soaring so we could ride it later; once we had done that, we went around the World Showcase.

On the way, we saw these guys rolling past:

Norway

We started with this one out of sequence, so we could go on Nordstrom; I could hardly remember it and it actually looked like we were going to go backwards down a waterfall at one point.

Mexico

They had changed the ride so it had lots of Donald Duck videos on, bizarrely. I still thought the interior, which is meant to look like a Mexican village a night time was unconvincing as the ceiling is clearly visible; I'm picky like that.

China

We did watch the video here, though otherwise we didn't stay long as we were looking for restrooms.

Germany

This one is mainly restaurants, but I had a look at the model village.

Italy

There was a funny enterainer there who looked kind of like Freddy Krueger; his act involved blowing a referee's whistle and throwing a ball at people and getting them to throw it in his net; I moved away beore I got picked on because I was worried I would embarrass myself.

Japan

There wasn't much here, but we looked around a shop selling a lot of Japanese things - including Super Mario T-Shirts; there was a woman making edible animals (which looked far too nice to eat!)

Morocco

We had lunch here; we had some sort of combo platter, which wasn't really good value for money (which was unfortunate as we were sharing it). We also had apples, two of which were barely edible (we had bought these into the park with us). We also looked around the bazaar.

France

We just missed some act which involved throwing and catching chairs; we spent our time in this one looking for the Eiffel Tower and going in one of the shops.

United Kingdom

I had a great find in a sports shop; I walked in and saw this:

I actually bought a Steven Gerrard shirt; as I paid for it, a Scouser walked in a started asking if they had Everton shirts, to which the cashier (who was from Manchester) said: "Don't mention them; I'm a Manchester United Fan". I started chatting to him about football and how I reckoned Liverpool would do better next season; he told me he was just over from Manchester for a year.

Canada

We watched the Canadian film here, which I enjoyed and went around a shop.

After the World Showcase, we went on Soaring; for some reason, people were trying to give away free concert tickets in the queue. Soaring wasn't quite as great as I'd hoped owing to the fact that I could see the edge of the screen, which rather spoiled the whole illusion.

In the evening, we visited the Rainforest Cafe and I bought some taffy to take back to the office - and then it rained again (it really was the storm season).

Day 15

R.I.P. Michael Jackson

It was the first thing I found out when I got up, although apparently this had been announced the night before - I'd missed the news.

We went to Aquatica on our last day, and it rained again the moment we got there; we had to shelter outside the locker room for ages. There were lots of good rides though, but I thought it was odd that the recorded announcements were by someone with what sounded like an Australian accent (I think it was meant to be New Zealand). The main attraction involves a slide that goes through a dolphin pool and you supposedly see the dolphins as you go through it; after queuing for ages, I didn't see a single dolphin. I also enjoyed the toboggan ride a lot and went repeatedly on a rubber ring ride. We then had to wait five minutes for fish sandwiches in the cafe, and found it had started raining again.

Our flight was delayed by a few hours and we waited for a long time in the terminal before we were called onto the plane; there were several announcements for certain invividuals, who seemed to prove very elusive.

I could hardly sleep on the plane as usual, and I was sad that the holiday was over. I watched The Simpsons on the flight, though for some reason they chose to show "That 90's Show", which in my opinion is a really bad episode.

I slept in the car while being driven back, and then went to sleep really early the following night - just after watching an Angel DVD and finding myself falling asleep in the middle of it, which was not good.
