Wow, very unusual episode, in that it featured hardly any of the regulars whatsoever, as it told in one epiosde a whole season from the point of view of "The Others", and it was certainly interesting - such as, we never found out exactly why that other guy was killing them, and it was nice to see stuff from their point of view. It seemed a bit weird at the end, because they were effectively doing a recap of the previous few episodes, showing a couple of flashes of action that seemed suddenly rushed, but it was neat seeing the pit and the characters capturing Jin, and getting a knowing glint in my eye: "Ah, I know what that's for".
Poor Shannon; I did start off hoping maybe they would save her somehow, but the preview of the next episode (Jack: "Shannon is dead") confirmed my worst suspicions. This show sure LIKES to kill characters off suddenly. Talking of which, the Family Guy episode I watched yesterday on DVD (Jungle Love, which got a bit like Lost at times) ended with Meg getting killed by a barrage of poison darts - that was freaky.
