30 Days of TV Challenge, Day 1: A Show that Should Never Have Been Cancelled
I'm going to do this again, because it's years since I last did it, and I want to update for things I've been watching recently.
For the show that should never have been cancelled, I'm going to choose The Last Man on Earth.
So, it got pulled after three seasons, although for me, it gets better each season, with 1 easily being my least favourite. Half of the season seems to be about introducing all the characters, and my other issue with that season is that it's downright mean-spirited at times, particularly as Phil/Tandy is impossible to like in this season because he's constantly selfish, pairing up with (and marrying as I recall it) Carol, and then wanting to be with Melissa, then even trying to kill Todd. It's to the show's credit that I started enjoying it more during Season Two, mostly after the episode that was all about Phil in the stocks.
I really enjoy Season 3, which I'm two episodes away from the end of, but yes - this looks like they could have done more. I'm hoping they bring back Kristen Wiig's drone-controlling character from midway in the season though; that was my favourite episode, but I'm hoping they were making a point by doing that, other than explaining the drone from Season 2.
It's a great show, once you get past Phil/Tandy using a swimming pool as a toilet in the early episodes.
I could also have said The Good Place which I know is just three seasons, but I have no idea if that got cancelled, or they planned to have just three (I've just finished the second).
