Florida Trip, Part 6: Some Random People

Today, we did Universal Studios; we headed almost right for the Simpsons area, which has vastly expanded, and the Men in Black ride, which I did for the first time ever (it broke down last time I went there). But, the big thing happening was that a large part of the park was closed off, next to the new areas that form the entrance to Diagon Alley and the Hogwarts Express. It has a mock up of King's Cross and Leicester Square stations, and Piccadilly Circus, and lots of extras were hanging around, waiting for the next take of a commercial they were filming; it was fascinating to watch.

We did get bad weather in the afternoon, and we kept sheltering on indoor rides like Revenge of the Mummy.

We visited the Outlets later on; I bought the Terminator Jesus T-shirt I had seen; I've worn it once so far, so need to wear it again.

We did Blizzard Beach again, and I got to go one more rides, though shouldn't have wasted my time waiting for the Downhill Double Dipper as the queue is ridiculous. I went on the toboggan race instead and ended up next to a guy who had Liverpool tattoos in the queue; of course, we got talking about Liverpool Football Club (he was from Liverpool too).

As we got ready to get changed and leave, there was another announcement of an incoming storm. I commented to an Australian guy in the changing rooms that every day was like this; we actually had a good conversation, and then a guy walked over wearing a pink shirt. The Aussie promptly told me that this was definitely not his gay lover, not that I'd even thought that; evidently, he didn't want me to think he was gay; homophobic, perhaps?

We went to Animal Kingdom, where all the drama happened. First off, we waited ages for Dinosaur as it broke down while we were in the queue; we had fastpasses and didn't want to waste them, so we stayed where we were. I needed a drink of water when we got off there.

The other rides were fun; the Himalaya roller coaster and Kwazi River Rapids, and we looked out for animals again on the safari; we got held up because of an animal on the track causing a tailback.

I wanted to do the animal safari walks but everyone else wanted to leave soon, so I decided to go on the Primeval Swirl as my last ride. That was interesting because I queued up for at least 20 minutes, mostly because of priority given to people with fastpasses for that ride. I eventually got into a car, put with another guy who was on his own; he was also English, and from Bristol; he was with his wife, who didn't want to ride; he was about my age, or maybe a bit older, and we had a good conversation. We were about to start going around the ride when they decided the car was faulty, so we had to get out and wait at the front of the queue for another car, meaning I took longer on this ride than intended.

My last full day of the holiday was over.
