30 Days of TV Challenge, Day 6: Favourite Episode of my Favourite Show
House - Episode 1x21: Three Stories
This was the first episode of House to break with the normal convention where it opened with someone falling ill, and House and his staff trying to work out what was wrong with them. In this episode, Cameron, Chase and Foreman attend a lecture to student doctors by House, where he tells three stories about patients.
The episode jumps back and forth between stories, and I only recall the significant one - here, he claims he was treating Carmen Electra for an injury. Of course, there is a big twist here, which Cameron, Chase and Foreman all guess correctly - I've put it behind a spoiler cut for anyone who hasn't got into the show yet and wants to watch from the start.

He wasn't treating this patient at all, he was the patient! (I am slightly peeved at Channel 5, who showed the first season of House, before they lost it to Sky, as their trailer for this episode showed House in his hospital bed ill, somewhat blowing the plot twist).
The whole story tells of how he ended up with his bad leg; it was basically part of a drastic medical treatment House's ex-wife (introduced in this episode) requested to save his life, but without his consent. The episode basically explains why he is in so much pain all the time, and why he became the cantankerous jerk he is.
I loved the change of tone for this episode, and how it made House more three-dimensional, and there was an enjoyable debate between all the students as to which action was most ethically correct. House has never topped this episode, even with its impressive series finale.
