Trains for me have been rubbish today, and not least this evening when I forked out money to go a few more stops than my season ticket would allow me, to watch the England game with Dad.
The train got stuck for half an hour because of a faulty one in front of us, during which all I could hear was an old man snoring, which caused several other passengers to start laughing. Then, the driver announced that the train would not go all the way to where I wanted to go, and then they decided that the train was SO late, it would be terminating at my normal stop.
So, I had wasted £5.30 on a ticket, because I got Dad to pick me up from the station back home; I remember having a conversation with a random Leiceister City fan about the football while I was waiting - he had also wanted to go further on the train.
We ended up missing half of the match - we had dinner during the first half and decided to watch it taped on a delay, but we walked into the room to find the TV switched to the football and - in his panic to change channels - Dad somehow cancelled the recording, so we ended up not bothering with the first half.
It was a good result for England, but I was amazed at how badly France did. Bring on Italy on Sunday!
