About Me Challenge - Day 11: Favourite TV Shows

The X-Files

That one had to be mentioned, just because it is an amazing show and without Mulder and Scully, we might have not had Brennan and Booth on Bones.

Millennium

Well, questions would be asked if I didn't include this one; darker and more adult than the X-Files, but very intelligent and enjoyable to watch, despite going downhill in its final season.

House

Watching Hugh Laurie as the mean-spirited doctor is always entertaining and I love any show that manages to include both comedy and drama on a regular basis.

Misfits

Great English show about five ASBO teens on community service who get superpowers; kind of like Heroes, but also both hilarious and occasionally very scary - the funniest character is Nathan, who just mostly behaves like a total jerk, but is also hilarious, but unfortunately he's not going to be in series three.

Being Human

The story of a vampire, ghost and werewolf living together was something that I got into easily, largely due to Russell Tovey's performance as George - very shocking at times, but it also has a lot of humour.

True Blood

Of course, I couldn't mention Being Human without mentioning this; this show is sort of like Twin Peaks with vampires only less confusing; the only difficulty is making sure you remember what happened last time since the action always picks up immediately from the end of the last episode, literally making it an on-going serial that never pauses for breath.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Definitely one of the main influences on True Blood, this is in every way better than the movie it is based on, largely due to Sarah Michelle Gellar's delivery of her lines throughout.

Angel

One of the best spinoff shows ever, although it was unfortunately cancelled, and proved that David Boreanaz was capable of carrying a series on his own.

Bones

Watchable mainly for the relationship between Brennan and Booth; really, this show is about the characters and the cases they have to solve are often given a backseat to whatever they are bickering over.

Doctor Who

I had to include this too because the recent revival just seems to get better each year, despite the fact that the critics constantly bash characters like Donna, Captain Jack and River Song.

Six Feet Under

Very enjoyable, black comedy series, set in a funeral home - naturally, most of the plots revolve around death, which is handled sometimes seriously and occasionally comically; this has one of the most moving final sequences ever, too.
