I have not updated this journal in a very long time . . . I had actually given up on livejournal all together. One more post can't hurt.
For those of you who don't know, I have been working on a contract basis for IBM/TD Canada Trust for the past few weeks. The contract is coming to an end, and 9 of the 12 people on my team were laid off today. For some unknown reason, IBM has decided that they like me, and have kept me on for a little while longer. Starting next week, I will start travelling around the province to continue with my job. As far as I know, I will be headed to windsor mid week, then to sarnia, sudbury, thunder bay, and finally timmins. I get to see all the crappiest places in Ontario.
All I can say is this: free flight, free food, and paid travel time. 100% expense paid trip. Unfortunately I am travelling with 2 old people. Should be interesting.
After I am done with that, I am out of a job again. I can't handle going back to full time at Rona again, so does anybody want to hire a programmer analyst? Please?!
Things I have learned from this job:
1. Don't work for IBM.
2. Don't work for TD Canada Trust.
3. Old people get mad when the youngest person on the team gets promoted to their boss.
4. Delegate work - if I have to get up from my desk, chances are that someone else should be doing it.
5. Money is sweet, but no deductions now = pain later.
6. Stacy is also a male name. Learn something new every day I guess.
7. Old IBM computers make good coffee tables, door stops, paper weights, and foot stools.
8. The galleria mall parking garage people are pricks.
I think that is about it for tonight. Sadly, this is the only thing I have accomplished on this friday night at home. Pathetic, eh?
