So I think I might have given myself frostbite yesterday.
oops.
I had to take all my borrowed photo equipment back to school - which included a 4x5 field camera kit, a full studio lighting kit, lighting stands, and a tripod. All piled on a big handcart. See, the trouble is - i am not from an affluent family, and thus could not afford luxuries like gloves. So i put my hand on the cart, bent my fingers to a position they would stay no matter what, and started trekking.
it really freaking hurt, but i didn't have many options. i was already late for work so i trucked on, with my hand feeling numb. (it was about 2 degrees outside, farenheit - way below freezing). Finally I arrived at the building with my hand in agonizing pain, and it wouldn't move! It was all swollen looking and weird, so i stuck it in my pocket and continued with my mission of checking in eqiupment. It kept hurting for a long time, and wouldn't warm up for sooo long. When it did warm up, it felt like someone had smashed my fingers in a door. And it hurt like that all day, even after it had been warmed up for hours. It has mostly gone away now, but it still hurts a little. But I discovered something else! I have this big discolored patch of skin on the side of my hand now, that hurts like someone took a lighter to it (aka, it burns like hell). I think its from where my skin was touching the metal bit on the handcart. I had noticed it being very white yesterday, but didn't think about it. Man it hurts :-(
So in other news... England is still on the horizon, although the horizon is very blurry. I'm worried because I haven't been in the country for so long, they might not let me have the national tuition fees.. in which case schooling would be more expensive than in the states. I'm still pretty determined to go though, so i'm working with it. My other plan is to maybe move to the desert. They have some cool schools out there... if anyone needs to get away and wants to share a place, lets get in touch :)
