Alien
Belately mentioning this one, because I watched it recently, and just realised (thanks Letterboxd) that its one of the films Jimmy Carter watched during his time as US President.
It's a film I can never get tired of really, so many iconic moments, mostly the famous "chestburster" scene, which still looks eerily realistic. The special effects are amazing for the time when it was made, and still feels way ahead of its time. The film's setting on a spaceship also gives it a really good claustrophobic feel.
Sigourney Weaver is perfectly cast in the role of Ripley (so glad Ridley Scott decided to make her female, despite being written as male). The thing that really makes this film good for me is that it lulls the audience into a false sense of safety, before unleashing a jumpscare with the alien that still gets me, even when I know that it is coming.

Directors sometimes hate their own movies, maybe studio interference or just plain ol' lack of talent (which they won't admit, but I'll gladly call them out for), watch any movie that has been hated on by the very director that made it (I linked ideas over at Letterboxd, but its from a banned source... so go over there for a link or google for ideas).
6. On July 16th Anthony Bourdain's documentary will be released, watch any movie he's previously called one of his favorites.
10. Using this list find a movie you've previously seen and liked and watch a movie that is in the same row and is apparently similar to the one you've previously liked.
