Been Doing a Bit More Fanfic Writing

I've been distracting myself from this morning's baffling Wordle by adding a scene to my "The Queen's Gambit" fan fiction; it's a flashback, so fairly inconsequential, except that I'm trying to explain how Scully wound up in the hospital in Season 2 with nobody knowing how she got there.

Also, I wanted an excuse to write another flashback with Krycek in.

November 1994
Scully lay in her bed; unresponsive, but still alive.

“You asked for me?” came a voice behind the Cigarette Smoking Man.

“Alex” he said, without turning around, “I understand you helped in making sure Agent Mulder didn’t stop our abduction plan from going ahead”.

“I had to kill a man” replied Krycek; “I managed to stop Agent Mulder’s cable car half way up Skyland Mountain, and the next thing I saw, he was climbing around on the top. It seems he’ll do anything to save his partner. Is it true, by the way? I’ve heard a rumour that he’s your son”.

The Cigarette Smoking Man ignored Krycek’s last question: “All you need to know is, it’s time to return Agent Scully. We’ve managed to spirit patients out of hospitals before, so how about bringing one in? You’ll be dressed as a doctor; we’ve got your fake creditials ready, so nobody will question you bringing Agent Scully in”.
“What if she wakes up?”

“There’s no chance of that yet” replied the Cigarette Smoking Man; “we’ve calculated that the coma will last for at least another few days, but you’ll have to act fast. She will have no memory of what we did to her, or that chip we put in her neck; I doubt even hypnotic regression will help.”

“Yes, sir” replied Krycek, sounding slightly unconvinced.

“Oh, and Alex, one more thing”.

“Yes, sir?” Krycek sighed.

“You might not realise it, but I have a bit of a soft spot for Agent Scully” replied the Cigarette Smoking Man; “if any harm comes to her at all; if she is not safely delivered to the hospital, I will know, and you can consider yourself a dead man”.
