The Friday Five: Reading Material

Jun 11, 2021 10:30

They updated this week!

1) What is the best book you've read?

I usually say "Catch-22" by Joseph Heller; the plotting is insane, in that it jumps all over the place, but I love the tragicomic style of the book, and how it pointed out the absurdities of war. I learned about this book because we studied it at school.

2) What is the worst book you've read?

I've read a few bad ones; the worst I can recall clearly is "Origin" by Dan Brown; easily his worst so far - I was expecting some interesting revelation at the end; it just turned into something cliched.

3) What is a favourite book from childhood?

I always loved "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl, and I always dreamed about visiting the chocolate factory myself.

4) What is a favourite book from adulthood?

"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" by Stieg Larsson; it was something I picked up after meaning to read it for years. It's my favourite in the Millennium series; gritty and exciting, and it made me want to keep reading.

5) What is a book you've read a number of times?

I used to love reading "Watership Down" by Richard Adams when I was young; at one point I used to read and re-read this one copy, which got very doggeared by me reading it in bed and falling asleep while reading.

favourites, millennium book series, willy wonka, school, roald dahl, richard adams, thriller, comedy, childhood memories, the friday five, murder, childrens books, war, books
