Very Belated Friday Five: Films/Movies

These questions were written by Dreamwidth user Scarlettina.

1) Pick one of your favorite movies: what is the title?

A Clockwork Orange (Stanley Kubrick, 1973)

2) When and where and with whom did you first see it?

I'll be honest, I was on my own, and watching on VHS - and it was something like 2001; the film had until not long before that been banned here in the UK because of the copycat attacks in America when it was first released. When I wanted it, it was quite difficult to convince my Mum - she seemed to think it would turn me into a psychopath.

3) What about the movie makes it one of your favorites?

I love the cinematic style, and I love the way the script almost seems hypnotic. I also have some strange tastes when it comes to film, so I think all the quirkiness appealed to me, plus the crazy decor in most of the scenes.

4) If you've watched this movie since the pandemic quarantine started, how did it make you feel?

Not applicable

5) If this movie was remade, who would you cast for the five main characters and why?

No idea really - maybe Robert Sheehan (Misfits) as Alex if he can still pass off as a teenager, but that may be typecasting. Otherwise, maybe the main actor from It's a Sin (I think that's Olly Alexander I'm thinking of).

No idea about the other roles really - everyone else really was a supporting role in this.

To be honest, I don't think I'd want this remade; it would not be as good.

the friday five, lockdown, films, mothers, science fiction, coronavirus, stanley kubrick
