Before I go to bed,

a random (silly little) memory:
When I was about 19, my best friend John came and lived with my Mother and I for a while. We shared a bedroom, and each night one of us would load up the 6-disc player with CDs (mostly soft, instrumental music, like the soundtrack of Somewhere in Time, but there was also the Carly Simon CD "Torch" in the mix) and have it play on random, so we could fall asleep to music. I would usually wake up each time the song "Hurt" from that Carly Simon CD would play, as there was a bit of silence at the beginning, followed by a saxophone intro, and Carly Simon belting out the words "I'm Hurt"...but I would fall back asleep soon after. Turned out the song had the same effect on John.

One night, the shuffle function kept playing "Hurt" every 3rd or 4th song. After several plays of the song, John sat bolt upright in bed and exclaimed "Gavin, are you OK?!" to which I replied "yeah, why?"..."Because Carly Simon is hurt! And my ears have started bleeding every time that song starts playing!" Carly was never heard from (at night, anyway) again.
