I don't know if many of you watch Criminal Minds, but it's a great CBS show. Kinda like CSI used to be in the good ol' days. I usually TiVo it, but decided to stay up and watch it last night.
OMG! Mitch Pileggi was on it last night and completely blew me away. I'm still creeped out by it. If you're a fan of his, I suggest you watch for the repeat of the episode of "Normal". Don't read below if you want to be surprised by the ending.
It took me a few moments to even recognize Pileggi because he looked different and his body language was so submissive (think the "stapler" guy from Office Space). The gist of it was that his 5 year old daughter was killed 6 months previously and he cracked under the grief along with his constantly belitting wife and teenage daughters. He started killing people on the freeway out of road rage and an attempt to make himself "tough".
OK, so far I'm with you. Almost understandable. If my daughter was hit and killed while I changed a flat tire, I'd go postal as well.
But then it gets worse. The FBI team needs to find him because he's shooting blonde women that remind him of his bitch wife and it's only a matter of time before he kills the real thing.
Long story short--he hijacks his family in his SUV and they are all screaming at each other about whose fault it was that the little girl died. The SUV flips during a car chase and when Pileggi gets out HE IS THE ONLY PERSON THAT WAS EVER IN THE VEHICLE. He had actually shot his entire family at the beginning of the show and had imagined them the whole hour. When the realization of what he had done got through his psychosis, he collapsed to the ground in agony and tears. I was SOBBING. It was painful to watch.
I wanted to have some sympathy for the guy, cuz I couldn't imagine losing a child like that. I also have to admit I pick on hubby sometimes, so I could also understand a guy feeling bad with his PMS-y wife. Plus it was Skinner/Caldwell and I can't hate him! My hubby got home as the show was going off and had to ask, "What the HELL are you watching??!" When he saw, he admitted, "I don't see how you watch stuff like that." Well, I love the characters and the show, but it's a rare one that BOTHERS me like that. (No, I'm not fangirly over this show, it just rocks, is all.)
I am very impressed with Pileggi! Hmmmmm........wonder if HE'LL come to Dragoncon?
