By now, Ava's more than got the home turf advantage. She timed herself once or twice to see how quickly she could get rid of the latest batch of wannabes.
A near-death experience with a trigger-happy pyrokinetic kind of put a stop to that, but you get the point.
Still. Forewarned is forearmed even at home, and one of Ava's favorite tricks as her control has gotten better has been getting a demon to lock her someplace, or put her in some kind of danger, right when the fresh meat rolls into town. She's got a knack for it.
Example: Hearing voices?
Ava's not exactly normal, but she's got pretty good ears and she's not a paranoid schizophrenic. The nearest convenient lockable structure is the shed-- she killed Jenny Yi in there, good times-- so she flings open the door and closes it gently, so as not to make any noise.
Hey, she thinks insistently, letting the door swing open in her head, get over here and lock me up.It's a moment and a motherfucker of a headache before the thing's done, and the voices are getting louder and more
( ... )
Sustained screaming can be damaging to the vocal chords, and it's not likely Azazel's going to spring for honey and herbal tea unless she does a really good job, so Ava switches to words.
"Help me! Somebody help me, please!"
The pounding persists. Didn't people used to communicate across long distances with drums?
"Hang on, we're coming!" Sam shouts back. "Just hold on--"
They turn a corner and stop for a second, looking around. The sounds are coming from a deserted-looking building, and he skids to a stop in front of the door.
By the time Andy catches up a few seconds later, breathing hard, Sam's already looking around for something to break the lock.

Andy moves up closer to him. "Is -- was that -- "
"Yeah," Sam says, and breaks into a run. "Come on!"

"We're gonna get you out, okay?"
