I can't help but feel the creative writer for the new season is borrowing heavily from the previous seasons plot lines.
A companion that has some universe-changing-event tied to her (DR. Donna).
A definitive marking on walls all around tied to a companion (Rose/Bad Wolf).
The Doctor also feels very human -- more like Space Sherlock Holmes Who Yells Alot.
