I saw Inception the other day. Bertrand Russell would have loved the movie: it's all orderly and hierarchical. In the movie, dreams are arranged into levels and you're either in one level or another level. I feel like Inception takes this approach because it wanted to be an action movie and wanted to be somewhat understandable, so that you knew when to be afraid for the characters. Overall, the movie was very well done but was quite "ameritrashy". Don't get me wrong, Inception is a pretty good movie, but if you want to see an actually mind-bending dream movie, watch the 2006 Japanese movie Paprika.
Nonetheless, it seems clear that Inception has been a marketing success, given how many people are talking about it. :-)
