Electric Banana Suit: DENIED
I know I don't blog enough. Perhaps it's because I don't blog until I'm pretty torqued off.
Today is one of those days.
When tongodeon last visited me in Tucson, he pretty much sold me on an Aerostich Roadcrafter, which I ordered the next day. That was April 15th.
I ordered the Roadcrafter in ELECTRIC BANANA SUIT style, with the main body being Hi-Viz yellow, and the ballistic accents in black. Clearly, it would be hideously beautiful:
I was promptly informed it would be 4 weeks to get it made and shipped. At the time, I was ok with it.
Today is May 21st, 5 weeks later. I was shipped THIS ugly beast:
As you can see, they got it BACKWARDS. This much black would be pretty much HEAT STROKE in Arizona. Not only that, but I want to be SEEN, not just laughed at.
The fit is good, the knee pads seem to line up properly when sitting on the bike, and aside from it being a bit hot (evap cooling vest, anyone?) I think it will be a great suit for a long time.
So I called the Aerostich people, and they were acceptably apologetic, and will ship the wrong suit back to them at their expense.
The part that really chaps my hide is that they were only able to offer me a 2 week turnaround on a new suit. Come on, how long does it take someone to make one of these? I give it a week maybe... why can't they admit their error and bump me to the head of the line? Are the electric bananas on backorder from Honduras AGAIN? Total time to get a suit will be upwards of 2 months by that point.
So, if you wear a 40L (5'11", 165lbs, 34" waist, 32" inseam), watch the Riderwearhouse emails for their frequent Scratch & Dent sales. This suit will likely end up there, since nobody in their right mind would order such a backwards combination.
Once this crap is straightened out, I will get a photo of the glorious ELECTRIC BANANA SUIT in ALL ITS GLORY.
