∝Transmission 038: Going Home

Mar 16, 2011 23:02

[Dressed in their full uniforms, Commanders Menaeus and Farix wait in the center of the Hyperstring Gate chamber. Several scientists from both the Uesugi and Hawking are at work, monitoring the levels and other readings from the Gate, and some are even in communication with DIVA over the Spheres. Menaeus steps forward and both salute whenever an ( Read more... )

[Tieria stood in the room looking at the Gate. It was rather fascinating in the long run for certain. Part of him would have liked to stay and help out, but he did have important things back home to return to. One good thing was that they hadn't lost any time.]

[Menaeus approaches Tieria and gives him a salute]

So, ready to head off back home?

There are some here I'd like to say good-bye to first.

[The only two he hadn't seen, yet, were Neil and Motoko...]

[As if on chance, Lockon was making his way to the Gate, knowing full-well when he went through, he was as good as dead. There was no way he survived both explosions... not a chance in heaven or hell. As rude as it was, he figured it would be easy enough to just slip away without saying goodbye. He rationalized it as just letting Lyle and Tieria go on without him, like they doubtlessly had before. And yet, as he turned the corner... there was Tieria. So much for a clean getaway.]

[Tieria wasn't really worried about catching Lyle. It wasn't like they weren't going to see each other again on the other side. But, those whom he'd met here and wouldn't see again, he did want to say something...

He turned when he heard someone come in. Sometimes, Fate works kind of funny.]

Neil...

[One of the people he'd been looking for... and now he had no clue what to say.]

Hey, Tieria...

[He glanced around and shifted where he had frozen in place.] You're uh... going back home then?

[He nodded.] I am. [He bit his lip for a moment, worried by the next question.] Are you?

Er, yeah, I was planning on it. I mean, it's not like I can stick around here for the rest of my life.

[Oh, but how he wished you would... alive with a second chance has got to be better than going back to certain death, right?

He kept that to himself, though, nodding instead.]

I suppose.

[And... he supposed they were kind of even anyway, right? After what had happened on that abandoned station... but...

No. He knew he wasn't going to talk Neil out of this, and pushing on him would only get him angry. That wasn't how he wanted to do this.]

I'm glad we were here together. [It wasn't much, really, but it meant a lot, and there was a lot more behind it than just the words. Tieria just wasn't sure if he was capable of getting that across.]

[Sometimes, Neil is good about reading into situations. Other times... he fails miserably. This is one of those times when a clue by four is needed. Stat.]

Yeah, it's been a good time here with you and Lyle, all the weird stuff aside.

[Tieria nodded a little, almost smiling a bit at Neil's statement.]

It's good you got to see him, too.

[His next comment, however, sort of just slipped out before he could stop it.]

Are you sure about heading back?

I'm glad for it.

[He's smiling up until Tieria's second comment, which caught him by surprise.]

Huh? Yeah, of course I am. [But was he really? Just that one quick pause maybe have been a shred of doubt. Unless he truly was sure. The world may never know....]

[Tieria took a quick breath, about to tell Neil that he didn't want him to go back, but then stopped himself. It wasn't fair... None of it was really fair. It was ultimately Neil's decision, after all, but he would either be here alone or... and, either way, Tieria would never see him again.]

...

Of course...

[And now he's wondering if he said something wrong. Something about that pause... he didn't like it much. Hm... to poke it with a stick or leave it be? That is the million dollar question. Maybe if we poke it carefully...]

Er... you alright?

[Tieria shifted his gaze slightly off to the side.]

It's nothing...

[...You see, that's when he really starts noticing. ISN'T IT GREAT?]

It sure doesn't seem like "nothing".
