Well, uh, unsettling as that was, I suppose it's nice to see that someone around here still has their sense of humor intact...
[--says Abel, who is, for officially the first time ever, wearing his standard issue uniform instead of his kethuda garb. All of it is curiously absent, except for his hat, which he's currently wringing between his hands (as though he believes that it might still hold some last drop of lake water, even after hanging to dry all day), his gloves, and the ornate shortsword that we're probably still wondering if he really knows how to use.
As he broadcasts, he's seated at a long, empty table in the station's suddenly rather lonesome cafeteria - amidst a great many other long, empty tables. A steaming mug is settled between his hands. Not visible to viewers, the lights at the far end of the room flicker on and off - and this is where his nervous gaze returns to focus time and time again.]
...Uh, s-so. Please tell me I'm not the only one who's not quite so overjoyed to be back. Don't get me wrong, I'm very glad I'm not a mermaid any longer-- But this isn't really much better. [He falls silent momentarily, looking distinctly concerned as that dying light finally bites it and the next one begins to stutter on and off.]
Th-That is, where's everybody gone? This place is spookier than visiting the Qizil Adalar without an escort. And I saw something strange outside, too, as I came back up the shore. I'm sure of it.
