[Here we have a lovely young woman, who has already changed into her uniform, and has put on a smile not entirely dissimilar to that of a poisonous snake.]

Good evening. I am Franziska von Karma, stationed on the IACC-Hawking for the time being. If I to work with the rest of you - and it would seem that I am - then perhaps introductions are in ( Read more... )

[if only there were some Hollows around, we could race]

Pleased to meet you, Ms. Ametatsu Ishida.

...But now I must ask - is everyone stationed to this ship so young?

You will find that age does not particularly matter in any area. As long as they have the ability and experience, no one is too young or too old.

A good answer. What are your areas of expertise, Ms. Ametatsu Ishida?

As someone who has been in the forefront of a war, I have first-hand experience with battles. As such, I can coordinate with those of the Uesugi with that they can do.

Ah, is that so? I have experience in commanding subordinates myself.

I have no subordinates. Simply those I trust to watch my back.

Well! I suppose we all can't be in charge of our comrades-in-arms' salaries.

I do take pride in being a fool with the appropriate knowledge.

Ridiculous. Foolishness is a binary state of being or not-being. Have you ever heard of Schroedinger's fool? Of course you haven't!

High-level studies, something a usual teenager will not be able to see in school. [Pushes up her glasses.]

A simple thought experiment of a 'what if' question-- the application of certain quantum mechanics in everyday life. Using a sub-atomic particle he applied to a cat within a box, he came to the conclusion that the cat is both alive and dead to everyone outside the box. Until, of course, the box is opened.

No worries, I don't think it's most people's daywhipper March 18 2010, 08:28:53 UTC
Fitting, as I was not yet a teenager when I originally studied it.

It's funny, though; he meant to illustrate the absurdity of the concept, but all he did was entice the entire field to try to explain it. Personally, I would have liked to see an option where the cat was undead.

The experiment was, of course, something from Einstein, and, with no offense to him, he was a little different than most, and in ways people would not like to bother with.

Turning a cat into such a creature would be far more simple, but I doubt he had to energy and ability to actually create one. But in any case, undead are a special case that most scientists would not bother with.

"There is no great genius without a mixture of madness." But I wonder...

It's a pity, really. It seems a field that could use more scientists.
