A simple thought experiment of a 'what if' question-- the application of certain quantum mechanics in everyday life. Using a sub-atomic particle he applied to a cat within a box, he came to the conclusion that the cat is both alive and dead to everyone outside the box. Until, of course, the box is opened.

It's funny, though; he meant to illustrate the absurdity of the concept, but all he did was entice the entire field to try to explain it. Personally, I would have liked to see an option where the cat was undead.

Turning a cat into such a creature would be far more simple, but I doubt he had to energy and ability to actually create one. But in any case, undead are a special case that most scientists would not bother with.
