I was mortally wounded, and in order to survive, my body's cells can heal themselves in a process known as regeneration. Actually, no, that isn't completely correct. The man I was when you knew me, my body was simply too old and it just gave in one day, long after you and Steven had left me. Since then, I've regenerated an additional six times. The only catch to the process is that when my cells renew themselves, my body changes how it looks and my personality changes a bit, but I'm still the same man underneath.
