Second Trial. Why yes I am horrible to my characters.

[Lightning's Sphere comes on for the first time in the nearly three days since her first transmission. She's still sitting in the same white-walled room with the same droning background noise and she hasn't gotten any sleep in nearly three days and it's beginning to show.

She's sitting back against the corner of the cell, resting her arms on her knees, tired eyes blinking as she stares straight ahead. She hasn't noticed the Sphere has turned on and receiving transmissions has been disabled.]

Hmph. Pathetic.

[Lightning jumps to her feet at the sudden voice, spinning to face it and freezes in surprise at the sight of... herself standing across the room from her.]

What...?

[Her double paces the room, dressed identically to her but with the noticeable addition of her Blazefire Saber hanging from her back.]

All that talk and you end up here, dying of exhaustion in some cell. No wonder Serah knew she couldn't count on you.

Stop it. How do you know about that?

[The two of them circle the cell as if sizing each other up.]

What? You can't even work it out yourself? [Her double snorts, shaking her head.] How do you think I know about it? That promise to mom before she died, to take care of Serah even though all you did was push her away.

This is some kind of trick.

And then you're surprised that she went to Snow instead of you? You did nothing but treat her like a burden since mom died and what's the first thing you do when she does come to you, you threaten her.

[Lightning's glares furiously at her clone, her fist clenched and trembling in fury.] Shut up....

You chased her away and left her with no other option but to follow that idiotic plan of running straight to the fal'Cie and doing exactly what it wanted. You promised you'd look after her and you broke that promise the first time it really counted!

I said shut up!

You failed her.

[With that final taunt, Lightning charges across the short distance between her and her clone and throws a punch with all her strength only to stare in shock as the double catches her fist effortlessly.]

Look at that, you don't even have those l'Cie powers of yours anymore.

[Another sound of protest and surprise as the clone grabs her shirt in her other hand and effortlessly lifts her off the ground.]

But it looks like I do.

[Before Lightning can even attempt to fight back the clone swings her around like a rag doll and hurls her against the wall. She hits with a loud bang that drives the air from her lungs and hits the ground gasping to regain her breath.]

... Mom and dad would be embarrassed.

[Lightning's head snaps up, glaring at where the clone had been standing but her cell is empty again with no sign that the doppleganger had ever been there at all. Finally regaining her composure, she pushes herself up and sits back against the opposite wall, her expression still carefully neutral. The Sphere returns to normal operation.]
