[One of the first to run out in a spacesuit is the Major, who was very much unaffected to begin with. [the Doctor has recovered very quickly thanks to that nose of his--as well as his too-clever brain that had tried to delude him into thinking the TARDIS was really there.]

Yep, I'm, well...[quickly] I'm me. How's it going out there, Motoko?

[of course he has ideas, but he wants to see how the others act first. he wants to see if they can redeem themselves from their actions during the anti-Alliance attack...]

Doctor, good to see you have your senses back.

Things are moving very slowly with very few people trying to free the ships right now. Temperature-wise, it's not exactly cooler outside than inside.

Back? Never realised they'd run away.

[frowns] They could be hidden, or slow to recover. Maybe a bit of both, but to be fair, from the looks of things, there seems to be a lot to cut away.

Almost everyone on board was acting strange. Unless I'm wrong, you were among them. [and by that she means overly cheerful and hallucinating]

With luck, they won't take too much longer to recover. Time isn't exactly on our side here. There is a lot to cut, enough to tangle up three very large ships.

Oi, give me some credit! I like to be happy once in a while too, so that was somewhat normal. [and he thought he had his TARDIS back, darn it.]

Ohhh, I'm well aware. I've been looking at diagrams of the ships. The Uesugi's literally the biggest problem just because of all those laser turrets and other fin-like layers. The Hawking ought to be the easiest to free.

There's nothing wrong with being happy, but when a vast majority of the ship's population is excited early on, forgive me for my suspicions that something was going on.

The time spent on each one will depend on how many people help with freeing the ships and how many stay on board, whether or not they try to come up with different ways to get us out.

[he smiles] Glad to know you're still as perceptive as ever. [winks]

[but his expression becomes serious] You don't need to tell me that, Motoko.

Are you going to help, Doctor? Or is trying to think a better way out of this space whale more your thing?

Well, first I'm going to try to do something about this heating issue. See if I can cool things off a bit, besides, you lot have it handled! Don't need little old me. Though...I may see about talking to the whale once I'm through here.

...You can seriously speak whale?

No, but I can damn well try. [he smiles] I have a way I can communicate with it. [he waves his hand. she actually might remember what. he tried to check her mind back on Eos, but ohh, that was so long ago...]

I had a feeling Oliver was being a little overconfident. He seemed so sure... [trailing off now because she does remember... memories of that paranoia virus come back only to be firmly squashed since she wasn't particularly happy with her first encounter with the Doctor]

Well...I didn't want to dash Oliver's hopes. Something bad happened to him during that battle and if doing what he's doing will give him some confidence back or some form of closure, then I'll do what I must.

My own disbelief didn't seem to shake his belief with the state he's in.

Oh? When did you speak to him last, anyway?

Not long before yourself, actually. He still seems to be under the influence of whatever spread through the fleet.
