I agree with what you said about Real Madrid. It was a good team and I liked them too. But the coming of the stars and the increasing pressure of money was just too much. I like the players but I don't see them as a team anymore.
I used to feel the same about Barca recently (it's getting better, though).

About Sergio Ramos, I don't understand all the excitation either... I don't especially like him - and I don't know how so many people can say he's gorgeous... I really don't find him attratctive too.

I'm a shameless Xavi fangirl, and even if Xavi weren't as hot as I think he is, I'd still think he was an amazing player. Looks don't matter THAT much to me, though of course I do love a good picspam...and a good squee. XD
I'm sometimes angry with myself because I used to love football for football (and not for the players). Recently, I've been becoming some sort of crazy fangirl (like the hundreds we can find on LJ) and I'm not able to focuse only on the game anymore... It's the same about slash. Slashing the players wouldn't have ever come to my mind some months ago but LJ is so full of footy slash, I couldn't get through it. I can understand how frustrating or annoying it could be when you're not into slash to find it everywhere...
I miss caring about the game :(

Raul. I really like him. I was frustrated and quite shocked to see he wasn't on the NT anymore. But when I read what was going on behind closed doors, with Raul almost insulting the coach, acting like a diva... I understood the coach's choice. Having a player trying to divide a group isn't good at all. You can't win trophies in such conditions, and can't have good friends in a team (and we all know that united teams win more). Now, I admire the coach for daring moving on, despite all the critics.
I love Raul in Real. He's talented, for sure. But as you said, he doesn't belong to the NT anymore and as difficult as it must be for him (can't imagine how aweful he must have felt), it's time to move on...

Oh yeah, Barça's the number 2 team in Spain and are also known for signing big-name players, but I just don't think it's as bad as Real. And I just see more teamwork with Barça than with Real, but maybe that's just me. XD

I'm pretty glad I never got into slash for that reason. It ruins the game for me. I know a lot of people mean for it to be an off-the-pitch sort of thing, but it just ruins the whole game for me. I just try to stay away from the really big slash communities and not read it when I see a link pop up on a community on my friends list.

I have nothing against him as a player. I definitely agree he's a necessity on Real and even I can't imagine Real without him, and I'm sure it was hard for him to be off the NT, but his time is just over on the NT.
