Dear Yuletider <3

Dear Yuletide Author,

First up let me glomptackle you for being so awesome as to be here, willing to give up your time and creative energy to indulge my fandom wants. I can promise you that participating in Yuletide this year is likely to be the best thing about my winter holidays. I've put general likes, dislikes, and some fandom specific requests beneath the cuts, but if they're horribly off putting to you, or frustrating or intimidating, please ignore them utterly. Please, go where the muse takes you.

Things of Yay :D

While I do tend to favour slash when it comes to fic, ultimately I am in it for the characters, so a well characterised piece, with or without ship-y contents, will always make me happy. I love intense friendships (sometimes unhealthily intense...) and intense emotions - usually buried under layers of repression, propriety and social convention, but still vital. Branching off from repression, I also love a lack of ability to communicate, miscommunication even, and angst arising from characters' mutual miscomprehension of others' emotions. Emotionally stunted/constipated/crippled charaters, relationships. I also love how this can play out in the perilous situations in which some of the characters of the fandoms I've requested can find themselves. Repression in the face of Mortal Peril!
tl;dr - no one says what they mean, everyone is sad D:

Plot wise I adore time travel, AUs, messing with history/timelines, and anything in that general direction. I enjoy plotty fics as well as character vignettes, so please feel free to do as you see fit.

Things of Nay D:
I'm not a huge fan of comedy for the fandoms I've requested. While I'm properly broken in by the internet to having a unsquickable nature, I would ask for nothing too extreme kink wise (blood-play, BDSM, scat, etc).

Sarah Jane Adventures
I have very recently got into this fandom so my squee is still fresh and a tad hysterical. What I really love about the series is the perfect balance between the emotional, character based content, and the action!adventure!plot, and the way these interplay so cleverly. I enjoy that, unlike in Who where most of the time the peril occurs detached from the companions' home lives, in SJA, all threats are a threat to everything our characters hold dear. I love the strong bonds it creates, but also the character traits it pulls out. I have an abiding love for Clyde and his Hidden Depths. It makes my heart break that he so obviously thinks he is just the muscle, expendable, so puts it upon himself to take the risks. But also that his history with his dad has damaged his trust in other people, and he has learnt that no one else is going to step up, so he has to. In the same vein, I love Sarah Jane and Luke and their Issues. My favourite episodes have been the episodes in which Sarah Jane and Luke's relationship as mother and son has been threatened (The Lost Boy, The Enemy of the Bane), and Clyde's relationship with his father has been explored (The Mark of the Berzerker).

I tagged M/M in the request form, mostly because of the dearth of Clyde/Luke in the fandom. I'm not asking anyone to go the Special Hell with me, but any focus on their friend(relation?)ship I would love. They both have parent issues, and very little to cling onto family-wise, so I would love to see something touching on how important they are to each other, and (for Clyde especially) what it means that they can trust each other. Equally, I would love to see anything that touched upon Sarah Jane and Luke's parent-child relationship and what a tenuous, fragile thing it can feel like it is.

Oh my gosh, that was so long, I'm so sorry. Please do ignore me if this is not your cup of tea, or just being annoying. I just adore this show and can't stop myself gushing about how much I love all the characters.

Biggles
Oh Boy Biggles Fandom :D As I mentioned on the requests form, my love is strongest at the beginning of the series and wanes as it goes on. TragicallyYoung!Traumatised!Alcoholic!Biggles from the WWI stories makes my heart hurt in the good way. I love Algy and Biggles' relationship in this early phase. Friendship or more, their interdependency and repression in the face of Horrific War Trauma really play into the likes I listed above. Anything in this era, with any of the 266 Squadron/France cast would make me extremely happy.

On a slight tangent, I also have a huge, burning passion for this AU that has cropped up a small bit on biggles_slash, notionally titled Giant Psychotic Cock Verse. General premise being, after the war, Biggles's trauma and emotional constipation leads to him being so horrible to Algy, Algy is driven into the waiting arms of Erich von Stalhein. The short pieces in this verse can be found here, here and here. Absolutely anything at all anywhere near this verse would fill me with glee :D

Downton Abbey
I'm betting this fandom is about to explode all over Yuletide this year. Honestly I would happily receive anything about anything in this fandom, I enjoy all of it so much, but for a few specifics, here goes:

I'm v much excited at the prospect of seeing canon-does-WWI next season, and would love anything that wanted to speculate as to how that would play out. Mary and Matthew's relationship fail pretty much typifies my 'no one says what they mean, everyone is sad D:' thing, so seeing what the war would do to them would be v much up my street. Also, seeing what happens to Thomas as a medic I would love. It would be interesting to see him encounter Matthew in the war setting, where their previous statuses and relationship is pretty much redundant.

Sorry if this is suddenly too little information compared to my wall-of-text sections above. I would be genuinely happy to receive anything at all in the fandom. I would be lovely to see what you think about it all.

Hurrah! My loff aboundeth. Thank you again for making my Yuletide happen!
