All right, GDF! We've done pretty awesomely lately, mental train wrecks aside.  Lots of high powered baddies taken down, majority of threats to the earth are dealt with.  I can't help but feel that we're moving towards an endgame of sorts, dood.

I know no one else is going to ask it, so I'll just say it. The GDF is clearly the most dominant force ( Read more... )

It's not that simple. We can't eliminate fighting because our livelihoods depend on it.

If we were to fight and bring peace to the world, all the Soldiers in it would be out of a job. The people whose job was previously to fight would be cast out and have nothing. Having nothing to lose and likely having fighting as their main potential source of income they will find a way to promote fighting in the world.

Beyond this they won't be the only people to suffer, a number of businesses will lose credibility and a huge number of people will lose their ability to survive.

I admit this is a doomsday scenario and likely an exaggeration, but something like it would occur.

I mean... I suppose we could just pay the soldiers to sit around not fighting. But that's a pretty boring job and fighters without something to fight get... anxious.

And this has been tried in the past. History has proven that peace by force is temporary at best.

So, you'd rather live in a world with endless conflict, dood?

No, it's more that, this wouldn't end the conflict, simply shift it to a different source. In an ideal situation, we could reach peace easily, but this world is far from ideal, and there are plenty of powerful people who have a vested interest in the continued conflict.

In an ideal world, what would be different, dood?

A lot of things. People would share their resources, work together for the mutual good of everything around them. Protect the planet and live in such a manner than it isn't harmed by what we are doing. Living in such a way that everyone would have a fulfilling life.

In other words, a dream world which is utterly unfeasible at the present time. And probably could never exist even assuming the best of situations.
