The vet finally called me back last night. And I kick myself for not getting angry at him. I was pissed for days for him not getting back to me but when I had the opportunity to let him know how upset I was I didn't do it. Grr...
Anyway, it looks like my cat has bladder stones. The vet wants to take X-rays and then surgically remove the stones from her bladder. This makes me really nervous since the cat is almost 11 years old. I looked online and it looks like the stones will dissolve gradually if I make some diet changes. I had been feeding the cats dry food only for the past few months. My other cat is allergic to chicken and all of the canned food contains some form of chicken. Cats tend to intake less water if they eat dry food only. This contributes to the bladder stones since the urine becomes more concentrated. Also, fish-based foods somehow increase the occurence of bladder stones. The food I've been giving them is fish-based. I went and bought some canned food last night and let me tell you she went to town on it. I locked her in the bedroom so the other cat wouldn't see her eating it and want some himself. So we'll see how this goes.
