People piss me off.
So, I'm sitting here at nearly 3:00 in the morning, and the TV's been on all night, but I haven't really been watching it, aside from the random infomercial here and there (magik jeans, amish-made fireplaces, work out dvds. you know.) but for the past hour or so, the CBN has been on (the Christian Broadcasting Network). Now, I don't have any problem with Christianity or Christians in general (although I might point out I do have a distain for religion in general. not the point).
But, anyway, like I said, I wasn't really paying attention. That is, until I heard a segment come on talking about the new Hate Crime Laws, and how they 'threaten our freedom of speech'. and well, as I'm a very strong supporter of LGBT rights, I got very upset and started ranting to Kasey over AIM.
she made a good point that this is the kind of stuff that LJ is FOR. so I'll post my rant. because I feel like keeping it.
"the thing I hate, though, isn't that they are against gays, because, like, whatever. everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and I may not agree with it, but go ahead. it's just that they don't give a SHIT about the welfare about those that the laws would protect. people will get attacked, and injured and killed, but that's OKAY, because now you're not going to get in trouble for it as well (because, and I don't know how accurate this is, but according to the CBN, if a preacher goes and reads the scriptures that condemn homosexuality and someone takes that and goes and commits a hate crime, they can be charged as an accessory (which, if you ask me, sounds like a load of shit, but since i don't know any different, i'll have to accept it for now)) and ANYWAY. about the whole condemning gays in the first place; they're not hurting you or your beliefs by living the way they want to. it's not your fucking job to judge people. I just... AGH. (and, obviously, I don't mean 'you' as in YOU. just 'you' in a general sense. i.e. those fuckers on this channel)"
So, after that, they started talking about the Chinese and how they're all poor and we need to save them with the Christian way and I continued to get angry and abuse CAPS.
and THEN they started talking about violence against the unborn. VIOLENCE against the UNBORN. WHAT THE FUCK.
ok. so, i'm obviously Pro-Choice, and that's fine if you're Pro-Life, but, REALLY? since when is it violent? (in a general, medical sense. not in a 'push my girlfriend down the stairs' type of abortion. because, unless I'm mistaken, they were talking about JUST abortion in general) I'm just in a state of awe that someone would actually think to call it that.
and that's when I turned the channel.
I'd write more, but my anger has abated somewhat, as I've been watching Robot Chicken, and that show doesn't leave me angry for long. it's just too stupid in that this-is-ridiculous-but-completely-hilarious sort of way.
